If you like them in a more 'pure' "Hidden Object" style and their story somewhat adventurous with less mystical elements, then the "Samantha Swift" series is recommendable: My only recommendable experience with "Hidden Object Games" are the following. They scratch some of the same itches as some of the more advanced HOGs but aren't as relaxing to play, unless you enjoy the challenge. If you somehow inexplicably run out of modern HOGs to play (quite an inconceivable feat) or get bored by their formulaic and often tacky nature then you might venture into more dangerous territories with puzzle heavy adventure games like Zork Nemesis, 7th Guest / 11th Hour, Myst / Riven etc. The clarity and graphics you are looking for will be absent though so this is a last resort kind of recommendation. If you don't mind trying something more old school adventure-like with that typical semi-serious / semi-funny corny 90s vibe and slightly frustrating clunky gameplay that hasn't aged all too well then it might be worth a try, mainly for the story.
